The service
Royalty Free Text provides access to public-domain literary works through a mobile-friendly reader, curated collections, and related site features. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.
Public-domain content
Book texts are in the public domain in the United Kingdom, subject to the qualifications on our Copyright page. Copyright laws differ by country. We make no representation that works are free of restrictions in your jurisdiction.
You are responsible for ensuring your use of any work complies with applicable law where you are located.
Permitted use
You may use the site for personal, non-commercial reading and reference unless we say otherwise.
You must not:
- Use the site in any way that violates applicable law
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or compromise the site or its infrastructure
- Scrape or harvest the site at scale without our prior written permission
- Misrepresent your affiliation with us or with the authors of the works we host
- Remove or obscure source attribution where we provide it
Our intellectual property
Public-domain texts are not owned by us. Our site design, branding, curated presentation, software, and original written content are owned by or licensed to Localhost Limited and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may link to our pages. You may not copy or republish substantial portions of our site presentation for commercial redistribution without permission.
Optional support payments
Optional supporter payments (when available) are voluntary contributions to help us grow the library. They are not purchases of public-domain text, charitable donations, or tax-deductible gifts. Perks such as ad-free reading or early access, if offered, are described at checkout and on our Coverage Atlas page.
Payment processing is handled by Stripe under Stripe's terms. Refund and cancellation terms will be stated at checkout or in receipt communications where applicable.
Advertising
We may show optional advertising on the free tier in future. Supporter tiers, when available, may remove ads as described on the Support page. We do not use advertising cookies today.
Third-party links and services
The site may link to third-party websites or use third-party services (for example analytics or payment providers). We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.
Disclaimer
The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
